Here's Everything You Need To Know About Dental Implants
There are 3 types of major dental implants:
- Endosteal Implants: The most common and safest option for patients with fairly healthy oral conditions.
- Subperiosteal Implants: Placed under the gums rather than in the jawbone.
- Zygomatic Implant: Used when there is not enough jawbone for Endosteal Implants.
Regardless of the type, healthy gums are essential for being a good candidate for any type of implant.
Dentures are removable and provide temporary, non-surgical, solutions to missing teeth, requiring periodic adjustments as your bite changes. These can be put in place regardless of your bone structure. In contrast, dental implants are permanent fixtures made of durable materials. These offer a natural-looking and long-lasting teeth replacement.
Typically, dental implants in New Jersey range from $3,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as the number of implants, material quality, and the dentist’s experience. Insurance may cover implants if tooth loss is due to a medical condition or accident. We accept select dental insurance plans (United Concordia Dental, Aetna, Delta Dental, Cigna, Dentemax, Guardian, Geha, Horizon, MetLife, Principal, UnitedHealthcare).

Patients of legal age with missing teeth can benefit from dental implants. Overall health is crucial, and in some cases, additional procedures like a sinus lift may be needed to ensure adequate bone support for the implants.
Dental Implants Procedure At Madison Dentistry & Implant Center
Experienced oral surgeon, Dr. Boukheir, will evaluate your oral profile to determine whether your jawbone is healthy enough to maintain an implant. Dental implant surgery is commonly done under general anesthesia. Once sedated, Dr. Boukheir will remove existing teeth or remnants of previously lost ones. The gum will be cut open to expose the jawbone underneath, preparing them for implant placement. The bone will be drilled, and implant posts will then be inserted and secured. The implants will then be placed.
For subperiosteal implants, jawbones will not be drilled. Instead, implant posts will be placed on or above the bone. Once healing is complete, the natural jawbone will strengthen and grow around the implant.
Implant dentistry offers numerous benefits that enhance your quality of life. By replacing missing teeth, dental implants restore functionality and stimulate the jawbone, preventing further bone deterioration.
